I'm short on time right now, so I'll make this post quick. I don't mean this to be prescriptive, but rather to hopefully spark some ideas. If you have any specific ideas of things you done that practically enabled the penetration of the gospel in your neighborhood or city, please ! I'll expound on each of these in later posts.

Here are some things we've done recently that worked well...
1. Pray for your city.
2. Get a team of people together to clean up a school.
3. Tutor some disadvantaged kids.
4. Throw a good (not a sucky) party in your neighborhood and start intentionally building relationships.
5. Organize a food drive in your neighborhood to help benefit a local food bank.
6. Create a video short (documentary style) on a project like one of these and put it on your church's website, YouTube, etc.
7. Share the vision of gospel renewal in your city with neighbors and friends and get them involved.
8.Organize relationships with other churches in your area to band together and meet a need in your community.
9.Organize relationships with other organizations in your area who are doing a good job meeting social needs.
10. Write/meet with local politicians asking how you can pray for them (and make sure to back up your prayers with action).
As you do these things, continually share the vision of Jesus bringing renewal through human hands. Pray for Jesus to give opportunity and to give faith to those with whom you are developing relationships. Meet physical needs, but as you go, be vocal about the reason you are doing this - to spread the love of Jesus. We can act, but unless the Gospel is the force and love for Jesus is the reason, we are simply exalting human effort. Besides, any opportunity to bless our city is an opportunity given by God.
