Soon after communion that last Sunday of February, 2010, it began. In hind sight, I see it so clearly this God experience which I'll tell about. I had almost decided to forget attending church all together Sunday morning. Choir was not singing and I wouldn't be needed in the 2nd service. I could easily miss this one time. I was tempted to stay home, but no. I needed to go and cleverly meet someone I hoped to be working with on a web page project. I'll introduce myself and maybe help move the project along.
A nice surprise; Matt was speaking. He took his lesson from John 14:12. You remember the one about Jesus' followers doing even greater things then he did. I opened my heart to the message by consciously allowing the word to penetrate and at the same time surrendering my will to be moved by the Holy Spirit. I knew there would be consequences. Something always happens with this combination of open heart and willingness to obey. Then SNAP - the tender trap was sprung. Where is this leading?
I have at times kept myself wrapped tightly in the blanket of procrastination ab out my Christian service. I would often catch myself counteracting these God situations by thinking I had plenty of time to think of serving. The kind that would suit me the best. But in the recent past I was given a wake-up call. I don't have that much time left - not at all. We Christians are not called to snug and drowsy ; are we?
I wish for you two things: One, that you come to realize how little time is left and also that an open heart to the word and a willingness to obey will set you up for the tender trap of doing God's will. You'll like being easy to catch. After all thats what its all about. (This is not the end to this story)
