There are few things in this life which are able to give us the confidence we need to preserver through tough times. We all know friends who have lost homes, jobs, and businesses and who need our love and support. So we are reminded that security is not to be found in earthly treasures. Moths, rust and thieves are constantly at work.

This forces us to consider afresh the truly important things of life, the spiritual things and the things that touch Heaven. The Apostle Paul sent a letter to the Christians in Phillippi. This was a very unique church that out of their poverty supported his ministry. He wrote, "being confident of this very thing, that he who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ."(Phillipians 1:6)

God is not like me. I have a hard time following through to the very last detail. I can get a project 90% done and then lose interest or heart. But the God who saved us by his amazing grace in Christ is no quitter. With His gracious gift of salvation comes confidence that God, who began the work, will finish the work.

Paul put it this way. "Whom he predestined, these also he called; whom he called, these also he justified; and whom he justified, these he also glorified."(Romans 8:30). God is going to work in our lives in such a way to bring us all the way home to Heaven.

If we lose temporal blessings in this life, God promises He will wipe away all your tears, and though it is tough now, we will ultimately comprehend the wisdom of our loving heavenly Father. Righteous and true are His ways. So, even our trials in this life will eternally redound to our good and the greater glory of God.

What an awesome peace we can enjoy as we live out the great adventure of knowing and following Christ. He is our confidence!
