As I was driving to Costco yesterday the new Chris Allen song was playing on the radio, (you American Idol fans would know who this is) "Live Like We're Dying".
As I was listening to this song I felt I needed to live more like this. I then began thinking about how some dying people just begin to live their lives as they should have before they received the news. They want to know more about God, they start calling people they haven't talked to in awhile, they forgive people who have wronged them, they want to see people they haven't seen in awhile, they want to travel, they want to laugh more, spend more time with family, tell people close to them that they love them, they are nicer to people, they become more giving, list goes on….these are the things that God already wants us to be like everyday.
Chelsea King's life was shorten by horrific circumstances. She has touched our lives in so many ways in the last few weeks. From the stories I've read about her she was not afraid of death and she lived a life like she was dying. Those beautiful blue eyes and sweet smile tells it all. Although her life was short, she was able to touch the lives of the people around her and that she will be remembered by.
Our days are short here on earth. It will be gone before you know it. Lets not wait to get bad news before we start living the way God wants us to be or not have lived at all and then your life is over without a warning. Lets be sure that we "Live Like your Dying".
James 4:14 (NIV)
Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.
