I happened across a Facebook post that referenced a Christian artist we used to listen to in the 70’s and 80’s. That led me to i-Tunes (to download some nostalgia) and then on a web search for some posts regarding the Jesus People movement that was so influential in me and my wife’s spiritual journey. This afternoon I also spent some time with my friend Bob Fulton, John Wimber’s brother-in-law and one of the co-founders of the Vineyard movement. There have been at least five major Christian movements since the mid-sixties (Jesus People, Charismatic, Shepherding, Vineyard (worship), Church Growth) – and for whatever reason, we have been involved in all of them on some level. There is little doubt in my mind that we are standing on the edge of yet another significant outpouring of God. It’s too early to know what an appropriate label will be, but I believe it will reach another generation of young adults with the hope and promise found only in Jesus. These movements bring sovereign refreshment to weary souls and things happen that cannot be explained naturally. Because they are sent by God, they happen apart from ‘organized’ religion or the more human-managed institutions and generally (in my experience) threaten established structures.

I’ve been on this path for nearly four decades – and I’m as ready as ever to once again make huge adaptations to the moving of God’s Spirit. How about you? Are you used to change or are you more like Moab -- Jeremiah 48:11 “From his earliest youth, Moab has lived in peace, never going into exile. He is like wine that has been allowed to settle. He has not been poured from flask to flask, and he is now fragrant and smooth.” That explains a lot to me . . . about me!
