Today we spent some time at Hope Foods in Escondido. We were shooting a video for this weekend in order to highlight our building relationship with them. Hope Foods is an organization in our area we are working with towards the goal of defeating hunger and poverty in Escondido/North County.
I was excited as they unfolded for me their vision because there are so many similarities between what we're doing. They envision many different food banks like theirs scattered all over Southern California. We dream of planting all kinds of churches all over San Diego in the coming years. Not only were these goals similar, but the reason behind the goals was the same - to see the Gospel take root in our city as to see the entire social makeup change. We both desire to see God's Kingdom come, and we both labor to that end. We both trust that God has called us to our respective ministries and we deeply value the idea of God renewing our broken world through passionate followers of Jesus who are showing sacrificial compassion toward the less fortunate.
I am really excited for the months and years to come in building partnerships with organizations such as Hope Foods who are doing such a great job seeking the prospericty of the city in which God has placed us (Jer. 29:7).
We'll look forward to hearing their story this weekend, and look on this website next week to view the brief video we shot at their warehouse today.
