pouring into our children
Matthew 19:13-15 - 13 Then children were brought to him that he might lay his hands on them and pray. The disciples rebuked the people, 14 but Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.” 15 And he laid his hands on them and went away.
Ephesians 6:4 - Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.
We dream of children and youth who infuse their schools and relationships with the gospel and who eventually leave home ready to carry on the gospel wherever they might endeavor. This will happen when parents are trained and to pastor their families with the Gospel about Jesus Christ at the center of everything.
To do this, there needs to be an emphasis on parent training rather than heavy programming. The child education programs we do have will not simply be child-care, but rather an interactive learning experience whereby they learn the truth of scripture/Jesus/Gospel and are moved toward mission in their neighborhoods, homes, schools, and playgrounds.
