John 1:1-18

Chrismass the only true myth, rooted not in imagination, but in hard historical facts.

Vs.18: No one has ever seen God; the only God, who is at the Father’s side, he has made him known.

Vss. 1-3; In the beginning was the Word [Logos], and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  2 He was in the beginning with God.  3 All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made.

Gen 1:1: In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth…

Christ was face to face with God forever and the object of heavenly worship.

Rev 4:11: “Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created.”

Reality exists and is sustained by the Logos of God.

Col 1:16-17; For by him [Christ] all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. 17 And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together.

Without Him as your starting  place you will always end up in futility.

Col 2:3; [Christ] in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

Christ is the manifestation of the revelation of the mind of God.

Angels from the Realms of Glory: Sages leave your contemplations, brighter visions beam afar

Gen 1:3: And God said, “Let there be … and there was…,”

Heb 11:2; By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible.

God will accomplish the redemption of His chosen people and of all things in the most remarkable way.

Luke 2:14: Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among people with whom He is pleased.

Vss.4-9;  In him was life, and the life was the light of men.  5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. (6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.  7 He came as a witness, to bear witness about the light, that all might believe through him.  8 He was not the light, but came to bear witness about the light.) 9 The true light, which gives light to everyone, was coming into the world.

Hark the Herald Angels Sing: Hail the heav’n-born Prince of Peace! Hail the Sun of righteousness! Light and life to all He brings, Ris’n with healing in His wings;

John 10:10; I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.

John 17:3: And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.

John 10:27-28: My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. 28 I give them eternal life, and they will never perish

John 14:6; Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

John 3:16: For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

John 5:11: And this is that testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. 12 Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.

Vs 4 &9; In him was life, and the life was the light of men9 The true light, which gives light to everyone, was coming into the world.

Gen 1:3; And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. 4 And God saw that the light was good. And God separated the light from the darkness.

He is true light - the real, thing, holy Light, the one who perfectly corresponds to the idea.

John 8:12: Jesus spoke to the people and said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows Me will never walk in the darkness, but will have the light of life.”

Isa 60:1: Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD has risen upon you.

Silent Night:  Son of God, love's pure light.

Isa 49:6: I will make you as a light for the nations, that my salvation may reach to the end of the earth.”

Matt 5:14&16: You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden…  let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

Vss.10&11: He was in the world, and the world was made through him, yet the world did not know him. 11 He came to his own, and his own people did not receive him.

John 3:19&20: this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil. 20 For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his works should be exposed.

John 7:17: If anyone’s will is to do God’s will, he will know whether the teaching is from God or whether I am speaking on my own authority.

Martin Luther: “…when you are finished with all your commands and exhortations ... I’ll write Rom. 3:20 over the top of it all" ("...through the law comes knowledge of sin.").

The mouse never seeks out the cat even as the criminal seek to avoid the courts.

Vss.12&13: But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God,  13 who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.
